UNITED WE STAND

Collaboration - Benefits of Working Together

Collaboration – The act of persons or companies working together to produce one outcome.

Companies, especially smaller ones, fear collaboration. The feeling is it will give the other party unsafe access to their clients, their work or their methods, even to the fact that trade is not quite as good as it is being made out to be.

Very few companies have all the necessary skills in house to take every project forward.  It is rare, except in larger companies, that there will be in house everything from a computer engineer to a full accounts team, a graphic designer to a publisher.  All companies buy in the skills they do not have to function on a day to day basis. However, when it comes to working on a joint project this becomes a different matter.

A web designer might be the world’s best at SEO and the techie stuff but if the site looks unattractive to the user then it will defeat the object. Likewise, this applies to the other way around. There have been many famous pairings helping companies to grow such as GoPro & Red Bull. By joining forces on projects, they have increased their reach and raised both brands awareness.

Nokia Siemens joint venture is a classic example of two companies with overlapping products, skills and markets. They worked collaboratively to create new products, win more market share and most of all, fight their corner against the rising Chinese competition. It has proven very lucrative and effective in keeping their market shares. (For more information on Collaboration click here)

Collaboration can open new doors, allow you to expand your offering and bring new exciting ideas and methods into your company.  We all strive to find the USP’s within our companies or products, which tells you that competition maybe a threat, but we are all different in some way. Collaboration can be a spring board to increasing a company’s uniqueness and appeal, let alone increasing the bottom line.
